Wax Resist Watercolor Lesson

Overview:

To achieve the color white with a true watercolor painting, can only result in leaving the white of the paper exposed. The concept of a wax resist helps you accomplish this task. In this lesson we will be using our wax white crayon to design a pattern that will be revealed with paint. 

Supplies:

  • Watercolor paint set

  • Watercolor paintbrushes (large round)

  • Watercolor paper (4, 5’x7’)

  • A white crayon

  • A small round lid or container (to trace)

  • A palette to mix

  • A container of water

  • Paper towel
